English: Black Pottery Goblet
This goblet, made from a particularly thin material known as "eggshell pottery", was made in separate parts- stem and body were produced independantly and then fitted together. Wet firewood was added to the kiln during firing at a relatively low tempurature, resulting in carbon from the resulting smoke permeating the pottery and turning it black. |
